The Engagement

Brian and Casey where going to Wisconsin to visit her sister and her parents for the Christmas holiday. Unknown to Casey, Brian had been "shopping" for the ring. As always, Brian needs to do some last minute shopping on Christmas Eve (which is a Brown family tradition). Brian asked Casey’s dad to go along with him and that is when Brian asked for Casey’s hand in marriage. ( In retrospect, I probably should have waited until we stopped instead of asking while going down the road at forty miles an hour.) After Casey’s dad picked his jaw up off the floor he told me that the decision was up to her. Now this is something that you really do not want to hear from your future father in-law, but continued that he would be more than happy to have his oldest daughter marry me.

Brian, Casey, and her family attended a midnight Christmas Eve service and after that went back to Doreen’s house for a "one present opening" (Another Brown family tradition) Brian gave Casey a box of Kleenex tissue and then asked her to get something out of his coat. When she came back that is where I asked her to marry me and make me the happiest man in the world.
